Comme des Garçons - Comme des Garçons
Contrary to what the redundancy of the name might suggest, Rei Kawakubo has never considered Comme Comme (as it is usually abbreviated) a second line. The brand is, in fact, not at all classifiable in hierarchical terms with respect to the Japanese designer's more well-known one; rather, the different intended use is the distinguishing element between the two products.
The collection can be appreciated for the liveliness with which it aligns with the needs of daily, practical, and working life. Thus, the unbridled creative impulses expressed in the most unthinkable shapes give way to playful content in the details: visible stitching; sweaters with a reversed effect; impeccable tailored jackets equipped with warm internal vests revealed only by intentional imbalances in length. The result? A pleasant compromise between the austere seriousness imposed by daily exigencies and the indispensable originality of the spirit.
