GILDA MIDANI
Brazil is the home of Gilda Midani, a designer known for the artisanal batik that colors lightweight summer fabrics, from linen to cotton jersey, in evocative earthy, ethereal, and ancestral hues.
Handcrafted work, made of drips and outdoor drying, of experiments aimed at transferring the evocative power of the Amazonian nature onto textile surfaces, also drawing on traditional Japanese dyeing techniques.
A collaboration with the artist Daniel Senise brings, in 2019, Gilda Midani's dresses to the collection of the MASP, the famous Museum of Art of São Paulo.
The airy volumes and the lightness of the materials naturally place her collections in the summer season, waiting for her to dye it again with a South American sensibility, deeply contemporary.
